I have a 2000 Harley Dyna Wide Glide. The bike has an issue with starting right when the engine is hot. Starts good after it cools for awhile and when I first start it. I was told by a couple folks that it might be the fuel dissapating in the fuel line from the heat in which case I need to put some kind of heat wrap on it. Does this seem to be a viable cause or is there something else I need to look at? Thanks.
Well, I bought the bike from a guy and he swore by his mechanic but since I've bought the bike I've had to do alot of tweaking such as adjusting the carb to run leaner, it was waaayyyy to rich but that still didn't solve the issue. What seemed to finally help was bringing the idle up. It never seemed right but I thought maybe with the engine upgrades and bigger cam that it would just lope like it did.
Well, one day I just reached down and turned the idle up because it was driving me nuts. So at our next stop after a good 50 mile ride, when I cranked it up, it fired up imediately. It has worked out pretty well since then. Occasionally it still has the problem, but after only a couple seconds it fires up which is better than what it was doing when I had to try over and over. I will still check the voltage issue though. Sure wouldn't hurt. Appreciate it man.

It does kind of sound like vaporlock. I guess I just can't remember ever having it with a bike. I've had it on a couple old cars. But it is the same principle, the fuel vaporizes before it gets to the carb instead of when it is leaving and starves the engine of fuel. I'd check the fuel line route and see if the line is too close to the one of the heads, if not try the heat wrap or insulation and see if that doesn't cure it.
