Hello to all of you who continue to send good wishes for Gregg. His update is posted on thewarehousellc.com . Thank you for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers. Kathy
Hi to all of you. The past 2 months have been busy for Gregg and I am sure he will appreciate it when his life becomes 'routine' . The month of December was busy with his trips to Urbana P.T. for pool therapy twice a week and his massage therapy once a week. His out patient visits for 2009 ended the middle of the month...an awesome thing happening on his very last pool day. Gregg actually flexed his right hip and stepped out with his right leg....lots of comments of "Awesome Gregg!" He just kind of smirked..as usual. His dental issues continued and pain meds were a routine for him for weeks as we waited for his surgery date. We had a really good Christmas at home on the 19th with his son, Brandon, before I had to head back to MI to do some more planning on the new house. Those UP guys are tough as they have continued to work on the house throughout the cold and snowy winter.
January continued to be hard on Gregg with the pain, more antibiotics and depression. He's been in the nursing home about 6 months too long and is looking forward to the move and seeing UP friends he had met and meeting new ones. We look at the plans frequently and I've chosen some of the same things for the new house that he presently has in his own home...so he will have some familiar things around him. Gregg had his final dental office appointment on January 21. We traveled to the OSU Medical Center on the 26th. His muscle strength is not good but a lot of the stiffness is gone so the decision was made to hold botox this time around. There will be one more appointment at OSU in 3 months and his records will be forwarded to a physician in Detroit for future follow up. A great doc and friend of mine has agreed to be his family physician in Manistique so he will be well taken care of. On January 29th we headed to the hospital at 5:30AM....as Gregg has been sleeping in until 9AM.....his reaction that day was "What the hell?" lol. After 4 hours of dental surgery under general anesthesia and recovery, we returned to HL at 5PM...a really long day. His discomfort was only minimal for a few days...his main problem has been recovering from the anesthetic. As he isn't able to get up and move around, he's been a little lethargic and it will take a bit before he is back to his usual. We are keeping a close watch.
On February 1, Gregg had a visit from his daughter, Brittany, son-in-law Jessie and grandson, Ethen. They brought along with them Aubrey Dawn, Gregg's 3 week old new grand daughter. He was totally in awe. When I held her and offered her to Gregg, he held out his arm and scooped her up. He didn't take his eyes off her. It was quite a kodak moment and I've added a picture. We will continue to be busy until the move. Gregg's massage therapist starts again tomorrow with weekly massages. Out patient therapy in Urbana will start up again in March when the weather is a bit warmer for travel. I am starting to pack up the house in anticipation of its sale. We are hoping to coordinate a 'good bye' party for friends sometime in April.....and some quiet time with family before we make the move. Time seems to be going by quickly now. If you have the opportunity to stop by and visit, please do so. I'd like to get pictures - lots of them - of everyone who has been a part of Gregg's life. It's always hard to leave friends behind but pictures you have forever.
Take care and be safe. Will catch up with you later! Kathy
