Gregg Boyd accident
Posted On 04/24/08 @ 3:36:PM by TheHandMaiden
Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 Gregg Boyd, 54, of Urbana, Ohio went down off of his green Heritage.  He had been enjoying the day with his American Thunder Brother Ziggy as they finished getting Ziggy's trike back on the road. Late in the afternoon Gregg and Ziggy were coming in on Ludlow North of  County Road 47 in West Liberty, Ohio. They had been heading toward the castles, according to Ziggy.  After navigated the hill  with a curve Ziggy checked his mirrors and Gregg was not there.  Within minutes Ziggy was able to get back to Gregg, but not before two good Samaritans, one a volunteer Fire Fighter, had stopped to administer aide. These guys called for the squads and MedFlight. “Within 15 to 20 minutes the parametics were there to get him,” Ziggy said.In “good” free to do as we please fashion (I write this being a Harely Davidson driver and rider who does not wear my helmet all of the time either), Greg was not wearing a helmet.  When asked if there were any other vehicles involved, if there was evidence of wildlife or livestock interference, etc…, “No, not that I could see at all,” Ziggy replied.Gregg is suffering from a bad head injury, at the very least.  Gregg was MedFlighted to Grant Medical Center, Columbus Ohio. We were able to contact his family. They have been to see him. His girlfriend, Kathy, is on her way in. I will be heading to the hospital within hours with her. As of 8:30 A.M. the next morning/this morning, April 24th, he was still unresponsive. With the many family and friends Gregg Boyd has across the United States I have been asked to provide an information gathering zone. I will be continuing to update my blog with progress reports on Gregg Boyd throughout the days and months (we pray) to come.If anyone wants to see a picture of him (with Kathy), yah know… put a face to a name, etc. http://www.mymotorcyclemonster.com/user/gallery/view/name_glivingston_DOC_/id_3071/title_greg2-and-kathy/Or  to see a shot of the two Greg bookend and us Kathleens -- http://www.mymotorcyclemonster.com/user/gallery/view/name_glivingston_DOC_/id_3068/title_the-three-of-us/ Thank you for all of your prayers. Feel free to add comments, thoughts, prayers, etc. I will forward them to Gregg Boyd and his family.   Thanks again,The Hand MaidenTheHandMaiden_Kathleen@hotmail.com

May 18, 2008

The days are getting better… small baby steps are still being accomplished.

Gregg, as noted earlier, as been moved to a Rehabilitation facility 12 miles from his home and has been, by the grace of God, making some progress. [Easy directions: down South on Hwy 68, down old Hwy 68 which turns into Hwy 72/Limestone, RIGHT on E. Harding… take Harding until it dead ends and turn LEFT. And then park. It is the first place/building on Left.]

Gregg IS keeping his eyes open for lengths of time….  Up to an hour at a time.
(Doc [my Greg] and I saw this for our very own eyes last night!!!!! )

It has been told to us that Gregg does, at times, squeeze visitor’s hands. Doc confirmed this as well last night, too.

It is said that the stimulation created by visits, playing his favorite music, and visits… are helpful. I think we can see that this is true.

On this long road to recovery Gregg and his immediate family could use the visits from the other branch of his family… his motorcycle family so… if you can spare some time on the way to or from somewhere in your busy life… well, I know the visit will do us all some good.

Oh Yah… if you do get down to Springfield, Ohio to visit Gregg… Please find the BIG white GET WELL card and leave him a note. Thanks.

God Bless and thanks for keeping Gregg in your prayers.

First and foremost…  the family and Gregg’s friend appreciate ALL of the Prays you all have been saying on his behalf. Any prayer is a gift. Thanks… even you LabRat… We take not one person’s willingness to say a couple of words for a brother for granted. We know how important and helpful they are.

I saw Gregg on Wednesday of last week.  All of the swelling has gone down in his face and arms, etc. He looks good. The color of his skin is good and the phenomena is being kept under control. Gregg is a fella who usually has a nice low heart rate and pulse… It is back. Back so much that the docs have taken him off of any and all blood pressure controlling meds that they were using to help his body after the accident. His body is recovering and helping itself.

While chatting with him I told him it was pretty hard having a conversation with him when he was not talkin’ back to me… he lifted the left corner of his upper lip for a good 20 seconds and sneered at me. Don’t know for sure, but this sure seemed to be a direct response… not to a command but a response none-the-less.

Gregg has stabilized enough to be moved from the Trauma Center. He was moved, on Sunday, May 11 to Ridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located at 1600 Saint Paris Pike, Springfield, Ohio 45504. You can put the address in on any Mapping site (Goggle/Yahoo/MSN)  to find it but it the Rehab Center is only about 12 miles from Urbana (his home city) down HWY 68, etc.

He is continuing to show baby-steps of progress.

The visits from friends and family are helping. Today he gets to hear some of his favorite classic Rock music, maybe that will help. I know it would help me.

Thanks again. See you at his bed side or here…

Gregg's making movents, I just got a call...   Greg has added movement of one arm today.
Sounds like there is a will to live in there.

Keep those prayers and visits coming.
