I'm bring up this topic not to start trouble, but to get opinions. I notice when i go to events for the most part everyone looks the same. I thought riding was about freedom and being a little different. My point is that I was at a bike night the other day and most had the same clothes, helmets etc. with small variations. I wore a vintage 70's 3/4 helmet that is metallic blue with white stripes (original vintage not reproduction) I love the thing, but I got looked at like I was a motard. Do I care NO!! I like to be different. So why does everyone dress the same?
My second point is what is with all the windshields? If you want a windshield drive a car. And Yes I do ride on long rides, with 18" Apes. I like being blown back and having to hold on, to me thats what riding a bike is about.
These are just my opinions. Don't beat me up too bad.

I personally don't disagree or agree either way and that in it self is what makes each individual unique. If you want to stand out in a crowd and wear your stripped helmet, with ape hangers on your ride have at it LOL, after all this is still a free country. Just Ride Safe and enjoy it while you can.

P.S. I personally like the windshield because I never was crazy about eating bugs, not to mention when the rain hits you at 60 miles an hour, that fucking hurts, and we don't have a Helmet Law here in Ohio, just eye protection is all thats required here..

Maybe they were just working up the nerve to ask you where you got such a great helmet.  You may be a little self conscious.  I like windshields, fairings, cruise, and radio.  We're all the same as we share a common interest and yet we're all different from the inside out.

I personally cant afford two bikes so I make the one bike a do it all bike.  A small part of the "all" word is the one time a year I take off for several days of riding putting thousands of miles on my bike in less than a week.  Those are the days that I find the windshield and fairing an absolute necessity, and that radio is a God send on those long stretches of flat road with no turns.

Now, if I could afford two bikes, the second one would be a naked ride.  no windshield, no bags, lots of motor and little weight to make the short runs a lot more fun.  But until then, I will stick with my do it all, big heavy pig.

As for looking the same, I kind of see your point.  Its common in the human race though.  Punk rock, Goth, jocks and teens tend to seek a look thats common to the folks they hang with, its just a fact of life.

As for your helmet, you really need to post a picture so that we can all stare at it from afar!

JUST RIDE.

ok, ok.  I see the pics you added.  People might be staring because your steed is primo and that old school 3/4 face helmet just looks old....especially in comparison to your bike.

Now that other throw back half shell in the pics you just added is the ticket in my opinion!

Nice bike and hey, whats it really matter?  As you say, be yourself and that my friend is good enough. Sport whatever lid trips your trigger.

JUST RIDE.

Thanks for the input! Don't get me wrong I like baggers as well, as a stripped down bike. I like many can only afford 1 option. Being I use it most days for work commute as well, I went with the lighter more agil bike. I guess the real idea is we are all brothers in a common interest. So enjoy riding how ever you want that makes you happy!

Nothing wrong with vintage helmets or whatever you want. You don't really care if if people look at you funny do you? I thought not . I personally like my wind shield- try it you'll like it . It's all good Brother. Thank God we live where we can all do our own thing-yes? Peace.Gd

That has to be a SWEET Helmet!! I have three, one is 3/4 too. BUT can't wear any of them, cause they give me headaches..??

BUT do wear the 3/4 to 'keep my head warm' below 45 degrees.

DON'T let it get to ya Dude! Let them STARE! Personally without the occasional 'DIFFERENT' this place would be BORING!
In a country that is 'SUPPOST' to accept ALL...we ARE a judgemental bunch..
so sad.
RIDE FREE BROTHER...ANYWAY YOU WANT, AND THE HELL WITH THEM!

I get your point. To each his own. But personally I don't dress like a pirate and I ride an 850 Commando. Which you very seldom see anywhere.
